At Chinook Valley Farm, we offer
|
You can feed corn and grain to cows, but it is not what they were designed to eat. "The cow has evolved to do one thing exquisitely: take cellulose - ubiquitous grass - and turn it into mass and motion. Like all members of a healthy biotic community, the cow produces food for someone else. Her manure feeds soil, plants and insects. The mechanical action of her hooves and her teeth helps the grasslands stay diverse. Her digestive processes free up nutrients - and not just for her, but for the whole community." Lierre Keith from June/July issue of Mother Earth News.
Maine Anjou Beef originated in Northern France, where they are revered for their milking ability and low fat content in the meat. Maine Anjou Beef prefer grass which is what they are raised on in France. We do not feed them grain as this raises the cholesterol level in the meat, which is not healthy for the humane diet. The cost for a young 1 1/2 year old beef is $2.50 per pound cut and
wrapped. We sometimes have available an older animal the cost is $2.00
per pound, cut & wrapped. $2.50 per pound Call or e-mail now to reserve your delicious and healthy side of beef. Email:Chinook Valley Farm Phone: (360) 777-8888
